DEAR HARRIETTE: I am perplexed. I have sent a bunch of notes to friends to say "Happy Holidays," and I have heard back from hardly anyone. I sent my notes via e-mail to people I know use modern technology. It's weird, because on the one hand I was just reaching out, but then it became wildly apparent that no one was reaching back to me. Now I feel weird for caring so much, but I do think it's odd that so few of my friends cared enough to respond to my e-mail. I didn't ask for much. Just thought I might get a reply. Ben, Seattle Dear Ben: Before you read too much into this experience, consider your friends could be off-line during this time. During the holidays, many people go on vacation and are detached from their PDAs (personal digital assistants). It could be that your friends were not connected to their technology.
New tattoo and wedding vows for Bif Naked
The bride was rocker Bif Naked, but there was nothing punk about the wedding ceremony celebrated Saturday in Vancouver. Naked has had Walker's signature tattooed on her arm while Walker has a stylized B emblazoned on his hip. Torbert is already heavily tattooed with Buddhist and Hindu poetry, symbols of the Tao and an Egyptian eye of Horus. During the wedding Torbert, who played with punk bands Gorilla Gorilla and Chrome Dog before going solo, wore a cream-coloured minidress with a detachable skirt, a pink veil and a long train.

Just read this article in The Sun. The depressing thing is, I wasn't shocked by it. Promiscuity amongst teens is becoming all too common, but the repurcussions are far-reaching: (1) We have the highest rates of teenage pregnancy and abortion in Europe. (2) We have the highest incidences of STD's in Europe. (3) It seems our taxes will now be paying kids to undergo "sex therapy" as the 15 year old girl in the story did, because it seems to be the only way for them to see the error of their ways. Can't blame immigrants for this one. Can't blame the government who cannot be expected to chaperon every youth in the UK. Can't blame the schools because sex edcuation most definately is on the agenda but the sexually rampant young teens are too busy skiving to attend those classes. I blame the media for over-sexualising everything.
