Dumped Styris stumped
Styris, 32, is still coming to grips with his dumping for the test series against Bangladesh. He admitted yesterday that he could see no way back in the longer form of the game this season. Not unreasonably, he believes the player picked in front of him - Mathew Sinclair - will prosper against hapless Bangladesh and therefore retain his place for the first two tests, at least, against England in March. Styris has retreated to the beach with his family to gather his thoughts but agreed to a one-off interview with The Dominion Post yesterday. He said he learned his fate just five minutes before the team to play Bangladesh was made public. He described it as a bolt from the blue after what he considered had been the best year of his career.
